W2-1 Introduction to Sociology/Being a Sociologist

1. summary


This article talks about the career and development of a sociology major. Through his major in sociology, he teaches what fields he can work in, and how he can influence society, and what areas he can study as a sociologist, and what procedures he or she will take.
Most majors are academically interested and choose sociology majors. According to the article, most of the majors feel satisfied with their choice of majors when they graduate.
Those with degrees in sociology can apply their knowledge of sociology to various fields. They have better insight into business decisions because they have a lot of knowledge in various areas, including race, gender, age, education and social class. Therefore, they are suitable channels for organizational planning, development, training, human resource management and marketing.
Those who earn PhDs in sociology will have more diverse career options. They have more specialized sociological knowledge and more analytical training, which makes them worth working for more diverse companies and organizations.

I realize that sociologist able to work in more fields than I had previously thought. I thought sociology was an academic study, and I thought that I would mainly work in the profession of doing research. However, through studying sociology, I came to realize that I have enormous potential for development, such as developing my ability to analyze information and applying this ability to my profession.

3. discussion

According to the article, sociology is a very promising study in the United States. However, Korea has yet to see much light. Compared with the case in the United States, what prospects will sociology have in the future in Korea and what jobs can it be used for use?

Sum mary   Deviation refers to the act of violating cultural norms. Violating the law is usually called an official deviation, and the act of violating informal social norms is called an informal deviation. Deviation can vary considerably depending on culture. Deviations defined by sociologists have many forms. Merton suggested a type of deviant behavior. According to him, the type of deviation is presented based on two criteria. The first condition is the adherence to personal motivation or cultural goals. The second condition is the individual's belief in how to achieve the goal. By selecting these conditions as Yes or No, there are four types and one additional type. The four types appear to be suitability, innovation, realism, and retro. One additional type is "rebellion," which refers to an individual rejecting both cultural goals and means of achievement, replacing or creating new means and goals. Dramaturgy (Sociology)

1. Summary -       Dramaturgy is a sociological perspective commonly used in micro-social explanations of social interactions in everyday life. In drama sociology, it is argued that the elements of human interaction depend on time, place and courtesy. The dramatic view is one of several sociological paradigms separate from other sociological theories because it analyzes context rather than examining the causes of human behavior. In the dramatic model, social interaction is analyzed in such a way that people live their lives like actors acting on stage. There are also seven important factors identified by Goffman regarding performance. The steps represent three areas (front, back, outside) where you can find multiple individuals with different roles and information.
