Make up classes: Is there a new generational gap between internet-savvy youth and less savvy older generation?

Make up classes: Is there a new generational gap between internet-savvy youth and less savvy older generation? I think there is a strong generation gap between the younger generation who are good at using the Internet and the older generation who are not. When I was an elementary school student, I first made a smartphone, and since then I have been interested and used it, and grew up with no difficulty using the Internet and smartphones. Currently, I buy movies on the Internet and enjoy shopping on the Internet. And I also learn leisure activities. Unlike the younger generation, however, older generations were weak and limited on the Internet, and the emergence of the Internet and smart was a big change for them. Adults think that the process of getting used to smartphones and the Internet has been slow unlike the younger generation, which has resulted in a generation gap. While the younger generation makes and uses abbreviations and newly coined words while the older generatio...

Make up classes: Can we think of some products or industries that have been disrupted by the internet?

Make up classes: Can we think of some products or industries that have been disrupted by the internet? As the Internet develops and usage increases, there are a variety of products or jobs that have disappeared. We have access to various things such as songs, radio, news, etc. on the Internet. Therefore, products with independent functions such as radio, mp3, and videotape are disappearing. Also, as related machines are being released in a variety of ways as Internet usage increases, people are reading and taking notes on their personal machines, which puts related industries at risk.  In addition, as the Internet has developed, various jobs have disappeared, such as jobs that tell phone numbers, jobs that exchange phone numbers, and jobs that charge on buses have disappeared, and there are more and more types of jobs that are decreasing in number. There is even a story that various jobs, such as teachers, journalists, and announcers, can be replaced by the Internet and t...

Make up classes: What do you think? Is internet making our lives better? It has dark sides, certainly. Can we make it better?

What do you think? Is internet making our lives better? It has dark sides, certainly. Can we make it better? By using the Internet, our quality of life has become very high, and it has made our lives easier to live. We do so many things over the Internet, including talking to people far away, taking classes, learning cooking, watching sports, and so on. If the virus spreads and there is no Internet, students will not be able to learn classes, shop online, protect our safety and get information. So, does the Internet always have only advantages? I don't think so. I think there is definitely a dark side to the Internet. People slander, hurt, and hurt others through the Internet. A person who is hurt by an anonymous attacker makes an extreme choice of suicide. Also, as the Internet becomes active, personal information is not protected. In some cases, indiscriminate use of personal information and hacking can lead to personal information leakage. In addition, fake news has becom...

Make up classes: “What did I learn from this class?”

Make up classes: “What did I learn from this class?” I thought a lot until I took this class. I was worried that I might not understand it because it was an English-only lecture, and I thought I lacked my ability. But after this semester, I heard that this class was missing, and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to enter sociology through it. And I have never learned sociology properly, so I was very excited to wait for the class. The professor helped the students to have a deeper understanding with various materials, and his kind lessons made me interested in sociology. Through this class, I was able to take an interest in the things that existed around our society but were not interested in. I could also think deeply about social issues. The process of exploring unknown sociological terms, theories, and scholars was very interesting, and I was very proud that my knowledge warehouse seemed to be being filled one by one. I think sociology is a subject that prepares the fut...

Week 12-2. Social inequality

Social inequality Summary Social inequality is found in almost every society. Social inequality is formed by various structural factors, such as geographical location or civil rights status. Social inequality can be very low if there are few social roles and positions of members in a simple society. Social inequality can be classified as an equal society, a ranking society, and a stratified society. There is no discrimination because an equal society advocates social equality through equal opportunities and rights. People with special skills were not considered superior to others. The norms and beliefs of an egalitarian society are to share equal and equal participation.  Class societies are mostly hierarchically grouped communities. This society gathers about status and reputation. A stratified society is a society that is horizontally classified into the upper, middle, and lower classes. Let's look at examples of social inequality. Social inequality includes income gaps,...

Week 12-1. Social stratification

Social stratification Summary Social stratification is based on socio-economic factors such as wealth, income, recognition, education, gender, and occupation. It means a social classification that classifies people. So, stratification is what makes a person's mind within the unit of society. refers to a relative position In modern society, the social class consists of three classes: upper, middle, and lower classes. The concept of social stratification is often used differently within the theory of specialization. It can also be interpreted.  Social stratification has four principles on which it is based. First, social stratification is socially defined as the assets of society, not as individuals in that society. Second, social stratification is reproduced from generation to generation. Third, social stratification is universal (found in all societies) but variable (depending on time and place). Fourth, social stratification includes qualitative beliefs and attitudes ...

Week 11-2. Dramaturgy (sociology)

Dramaturgy (sociology) - Summary  Symbolic interaction is a sociological theory that implies the use of certain dialects by people to develop from practical considerations and to produce images and normal meanings for the connection and communication with others. In other words, it is a way for individuals to create a symbolic world with better interaction. It is a framework that helps to understand how society is preserved and created through repetitive interplay between individuals. The analytical process that occurs between interactions helps to generate and regenerate meaning. Influencing the interaction between individuals is a common understanding and interpretation of meaning. Individuals act on the premise of a common understanding of meaning within the social context. Thus, interactions and behaviors are organized through the common meaning that objects and concepts are attached to them. From this point of view, people live in both natural and symbolic environments....

Week 10-2. Social network

Social network 1. Summary This article explains social networks. Social networks are a theoretical construct useful for studying relationships between individuals, groups, organizations, or the entire society in social science. The term is used to describe a social structure determined by interaction. The analysis level consists of micro-level, meso-level, and macro-level. Social network analysis is now one of the main paradigms of modern sociology, and is also used in many other social and official sciences. Together with other complex networks, this network forms part of the early field of network science. 2. Interesting It was interesting that social network analysis is being integrated into health care analysis such as patient communication and education model, disease prevention, mental health diagnosis and treatment model, health care organization and system research as well as epidemiological research. 3. Discussion What is the new network created by the scale ...

Week 10-1. Introduction to Sociology/Social Structure

Introduction to Sociology/Social Structure 1. Summary A social structure is a constant relationship or bond between individuals or groups of individuals. In other words, social structures are clearly related to each other. Relation with relatively continuous patterns of behavior within society, or Social institutions and norms are included in social institutions in a way that forms the behavior of actors within the social system.

Week 9-2. Introduction to Sociology/Deviance

Introduction to Sociology/Deviance 1. Summary Deviation is a violation of cultural norms. The norm is the social expectation that leads to human behavior. Deviation is often divided into two types. First, crime is a violation of officially enacted laws and an official departure. Examples of official defections include robbery, theft, rape, murder, and assault. The second type of deviant behavior refers to violations of informal social norms, rules not classified by law, and is called informal deviations. Examples of informal departures include snoring, burping loudly (in some cultures) or standing too close to other cultures unnecessarily. Deviation can vary considerably from culture to culture. It makes sense considering that cultural norms are relative. If the norm is relative, it is also relative to deviating from it (i.e. deviating).  Social control refers to various means by which society uses its members to conform to cultural norms. There are two types of genera...

Week 9-1. Introduction to Sociology/Socialization

Image
Introduction to Sociology/Socialization 1. Summary Socialization is a basic sociological concept consisting of several elements. Socialization is a social process. Therefore, interaction between people is necessary. Socialization occurs as a result of contact with a large number of people and numerous groups. Some of the people who contribute greatly to the socialization process are parents, guardians, friends, schools, brothers and sisters, or other family members, religious clubs and colleagues. Through community activities, humans go through a socialization process. Not all socialization is voluntary or all socialization is successful. There is an institution specifically created to socialize an unsocialized individual. For example, prisons and mental health institutions are designed to socialize by the unsocialized. Socialization is the process of learning how humans function in a particular society. 2. Interesting It was interesting to see that students who followe...

Week 9-2. (extra) How can we reduce the suicide rates in Korea?

How can we reduce the suicide rates in Korea? Suicide rates are soaring all over the world. In particular, Korea has a high suicide rate among many countries. The causes of suicide can be classified into several categories. The biggest reason for the recent increase in the suicide rate in Korea can be attributed to economic difficulties, resulting in family feuds or the collapse of families. To solve the suicide problem, I think it is necessary to change the perception that "suicide is not an individual but a social problem." When people hear the story of a person who committed suicide, they often blame the individual first. However, if you look at the recent suicides, you can see that problems that have been prevalent in society, such as bullying, sexual assault and school violence, have led to suicide. Therefore, since suicide is a matter of the people, not individuals, I think the government should step up efforts to prevent suicide.  For example, the state shou...

Week 9-2. (extra) Why do you think South Korea places so high on 'Suicide rate' ranking?

Why do you think South Korea places so high on 'Suicide rate' ranking? South Korea's suicide rate is very high. I think the reason why Korea has a high suicide rate is because there are many social problems. To survive in Korea, you have to live very fiercely. From elementary school to college students, students compete to get a job. But that's not the end. To compete with home prices and prices to buy a house. In Korean society, people compete and live fiercely to live. I think this harsh competition in society makes people tired and hard to live.  Stress builds up in people, and this stress is likely to lead to depression. I think this depression leads to suicide, which leads to suicide. Therefore, I think these fundamental problems should be solved in order to prevent suicide.

Week 9-2. (extra) Where do we learn more: in schools or outside?

Where do we learn more: in schools or outside? I think we can learn more at school. We can acquire knowledge through various subjects in school. Knowledge can be acquired outside of school. For example, home schooling. But I think we can learn more things in school besides learning knowledge through subjects. While living with friends, one can learn about consideration, sharing, and yielding and cultivate sociality. Learning morals can learn how to behave in society. Also, I can learn many things through my teacher. I think the advantage of school is that it can develop sociality in addition to education.

Week 9-2. (extra) Why inequality creates disorder?

Why inequality creates disorder? There are so many inequalities from the past to the present. There are so many inequalities around us, economic, social and gender. This economic inequality can be said to lead to disorder. So why does economic inequality create disorder? I think that if you support people who lack abilities and give them opportunities or reduce the opportunities of people who are generous, those who have less opportunities and less support will have complaints and the backlash will become disorderly as these things accumulate. Therefore, I think the state should prevent disorder and come up with measures.

Week 9-1. (extra) Why does the society hold together?

Why does the society hold together? We are working with others and society, but make it their way from anyone else with both sides to go. Think society is changing and development in these processes. People in the process and create a community.

Week 9-1. (extra) Color pink is associated with girls? Why?

Color pink is associated with girls? Why? The world we live in is made up of various colors. Colors each have unique characteristics and have a great influence on people. Colors symbolize various things, such as class, country, etc. We can easily see that in our lives, girls are dressed in pink and boys in blue. In the past, red, symbolizing strength and energy, was the color of men and pink was the color of boys. Blue was considered the color of girls because it was an elegant color. So, did pink become the color of girls in modern times? I think the reason for this is the development of the cosmetics industry. Red is used to emphasize the color of blood and cosmetics are made up of red. I think women have come to use red-colored cosmetics to express their lips and cheeks, and have allowed women to consume pink.
