W2-2 Introduction to Sociology / Sociological Methods

1. summary

This article introduces how sociologists use it in social life research. Human beings acquire knowledge in various ways. Knowledge is obtained through various methods such as authority, experience, tradition, logic, science. Sociologists use observation, hypothesis reasoning, and inductive methods to explain and develop social phenomena in the form of theory. On the other hand, scientific methods exist. The scientific method is a cycle that leads to four stages: characterization, hypothesis, prediction and testing. In this process, correlation and causality should be looked at. Correlation means the relationship between two or more variable variables that change together. Causality refers to the relationship between two or more variables in which one variable causes another. There are qualitative and quantitative studies in sociological studies. Both of these approaches have their respective advantages and should be used in combination. In other words, it is a complementary relationship. Research ethics exist in sociological research. Ethics is a very important issue and must be followed, as most of the subjects of sociology are people.

2. interesting

It was interesting that social researchers have to adhere to research ethics in sociological research. I was well aware that one of the most problematic things in scientific research was the question of ethics. This is because the problem that emerges in the development of chemicals such as dynamite is the problem of human ethics. It is a new realization that this ethical problem is equally important in sociological research. Since sociology is a closely related study to people, I realized again that we should pay more attention to ethical issues when conducting research.

3. discussion

What are some examples of research ethics to follow when studying sociology? What are some examples of problems caused by failing to adhere to research ethics?

Comments

  1. I think the most problems that ethics aren't observed in sociological research is about the plagiarism. And we have to figure out the ways to eradicate it.
