  On April 19, 2019, a tragedy occurred at an intersection in Tokyo's Ikebukuro neighborhood. The car crashed into the surrounding crowd on the street, which directly caused the death of a pair of mothers and children, and 8 people suffered various degrees of damage.   I think one of the reasons for driving accidents in Japan is because the drivers are elderly.
  According to statistics from the Japan Police Agency, there will be approximately 5.6 million people holding driver's licenses for the elderly aged 75 and over in Japan in 2019, nearly double the number 10 years ago. In addition, the number of fatal accidents caused by elderly drivers in 2018 increased by 42 to 460 compared to 2017, accounting for 15% of all accidental deaths, a record high.Due to the age of these elderly drivers, their vision gradually decreases, and their vision becomes narrow. It is easy for them to ignore cars in front of them and walking citizens.Also because of age, mobility will be slow. Once it is found that it is necessary to brake suddenly, it will not respond enough to cause an accident.Another reason is that they are confident in their driving skills.They thought they were driving for a long time, so they were assured of their driving skills. This is a manifestation of a lack of safety awareness and a cause of driving accidents.
