Week2-1/ Introduction to Sociology / Being a sociologist



1.    summary
The sociologists don’ have the special pattern of personality. About 90% of the Sociology majors figure out the basic concept and the difference invarious theoretical paradigms of the sociology. The sociology majors discuss the ethical problem base on the evidence and use the various methods of research. They can make the report that is easy to non-sociologist. Despite it, they can develop the hypothesis by making cause and effect clearly. They can analyze the data by using the computer and can present the explanation drawn by using the statistical software.

  The Sociology majors who have these practical skills can have the various careers. First, the Sociology majors can be employed in company to research and investigate something for pursuit of profits of company.They have the unique insight to decide the business related to the various elements such as race, gender and age. They have the abilities such as perceiving the trend and pattern and they have the skills of data collection, management of the statistical software, planning and organizing something. So, they can demonstrate the talent in their company. The one important thing for retail firm is the positioning the best place. The Sociology majors can select the right place by using the social imagination and by analyzing the patterns of expenditure of consumers. Despite it, their roles are Important to test the products, evaluate the chance of global markets, predict and plan the future, and advertise the products. Second, the Sociology majors can display their ability in NGO. Indeed, NGO deal with the various social problems such as poverty, the process of class formation, and the population growth of the world. These topics are covered too by the Sociology majors. Third, the Sociology majors can prepare the Ph.D. recipients. It is the process that is needed to get the high career of variety area such as business organization, marketing and statistic prediction. Like this, the Sociology majors can show their capability in various roles.


2.    interesting
It is profitable for me to understand the practical skills of the Sociology majors. It means that i can get the skills by studying the Sociology. The role of the Sociology majors in company is more interesting than other roles. Because i’m a student of Economics, I’m interestedin the role of the Sociology majors in the firm that they can contribute to the profit of the firm based on the practical skills such as the data collection and analysis.


3.    discussion
I wonder what the careers of the Sociology majors are by country beside company, NGO and Ph.D. recipients. It is the profitable to society develop that The Sociology majors display their abilities by using various practical skills in variety field. If there are some differences among the countries, I wonder the reasons of the differences.

    I agree as a person majoring in economics. Sociology, rather than economics, seems to be more appropriate for learning the skills a company needs.

Sum mary   Deviation refers to the act of violating cultural norms. Violating the law is usually called an official deviation, and the act of violating informal social norms is called an informal deviation. Deviation can vary considerably depending on culture. Deviations defined by sociologists have many forms. Merton suggested a type of deviant behavior. According to him, the type of deviation is presented based on two criteria. The first condition is the adherence to personal motivation or cultural goals. The second condition is the individual's belief in how to achieve the goal. By selecting these conditions as Yes or No, there are four types and one additional type. The four types appear to be suitability, innovation, realism, and retro. Dramaturgy (Sociology)

1. Summary -       Dramaturgy is a sociological perspective commonly used in micro-social explanations of social interactions in everyday life. In drama sociology, it is argued that the elements of human interaction depend on time, place and courtesy. The dramatic view is one of several sociological paradigms separate from other sociological theories because it analyzes context rather than examining the causes of human behavior. In the dramatic model, social interaction is analyzed in such a way that people live their lives like actors acting on stage. There are also seven important factors identified by Goffman regarding performance. The steps represent three areas (front, back, outside) where you can find multiple individuals with different roles and information.
