Week 10-2. Social network
1. Summary
A social network is a social structure consisting of different social interactions between social actors. Social networks provide a variety of theories describing methods for analyzing the structure of the entire social entity and patterns observed in these structures. The study of these structures uses social network analysis to identify regional and global patterns, find influential entities, and investigate network dynamics. Social network is a theoretical structure useful for studying relationships of individuals, groups, organizations, or even society as a whole in social science. The relationship in which a social unit is connected represents the convergence of various social contacts in that unit. The axiom of the social network approach to understand social interaction is that social phenomena should be investigated first through the measurement of relationships between units and within units, not by the attributes of these units themselves.
2. Interesting
I find it interesting that, in general, social networks are self-organizing, new, and complex. So, from the local interaction of the components that make up the system, there is a consistent pattern around the world. This pattern becomes more apparent as the size of the network increases.
3. Discussion
Do you know where social networks are used?
