WEEK 11 : Dramaturgy (sociology)
1. SUMMARY
Dramaturgy is a term used in social
interaction from a micro-view. In Dramaturgy, the elements of interaction depend
on time, place, and hearing. The purpose of self-expression is to accommodate
the audience.
A dramatic view analyzes the context.
However, there is a controversy that it can be perceived as a paradigm
framework, not a theory.
Dramas emphasize expressive power as a
major component of interaction. It also manages the environment, clothing, word
selection and behavior. With respect to performance, there are seven important
elements that Goffman identifies. Belief, mask, realization, idealization, maintenance
of expression control, truth, mystification. Drama interaction mainly
cooperates as a team for the party line. There are three steps. There are front
stage, back stage, and exterior. The front stage is divided into appearance and
manners. Appearance reflects social status and manners are the way actors
behave. Backstage is a place where you can relax and feel relief. The outside
is a place where individuals do not participate in the performance, which may
not be known.
You should keep the audience from getting
secrets in many performances. Secrets are dark secrets, strategic secrets,
inside secrets, entrusted secrets, and free secrets. A role has a role to deal
with team boundaries, a role to promote interaction between the two different
teams, and a role to mix the front and rear. Performers can communicate
informally even in non-performance areas. However, exposure should be
maintained through exposure management.
It is interesting that there are numerous
roles for one communication, drama interaction. The same goes for secrets. It
is divided into strategic secrets, free secrets, etc. according to what
personality it has.
It is said that they may not be neutral in
the role of arbitrator, but I don't think they are. Because I think it is a
role to promote communication on behalf of a neutral position. I want to know
what you think about this. Is it mean that just a broker?
