Korea, like all countries, makes extensive use of legitimizing symbols. Can we think of some others?
While I was thinking about other symbols of Korea, I thought of Soohorang and Bandabi for the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics. They played a big role in promoting Korea as a symbol of the last Winter Olympics. These characters were made into various products and appeared throughout the Winter Olympics. I also have their dolls at home! Because it was so popular, Gangwon-do wanted to continue to use these characters as symbols after the Olympics, but they couldn't because of the IOC's opposition. So they created a character named Bum-yi and Bear, two years old. It's very cute, right?
