Week 13-1.Introduction to Sociology/Gender

1. Summary

Sociologists make a distinction between gender and sex. "Gender" refers to a culturally established social position between men and women. "Cis sex/gender people" are those who follow existing concepts of gender and sex within a given social, historical, cultural, political and scientific context. "Trans sex/gender people" are those who do not follow the existing concepts of gender and sex within the social, historical, cultural, political and scientific contexts given differently to "Cis sex/gender people." Sexism is discrimination against people based on perceived gender or gender. Sexism means four beliefs or attitudes below. First, the belief that there are only two genders. Second, the belief that one gender is superior to the others, Third, the belief that men and women are very different and that this should be strongly reflected in society, language, the right to have sex, and the law. Fourth, it can also reference to simple hatred of men (misily) or women (misogyny) or trans people (transphobia).

2. Interesting

I found the story of sports interesting in the document on Sexism. Despite the increase in women's participation in sports, broadcast news reports have changed little over the past 15 years. In Korea, there is a tendency to report less articles about female sports players and broadcast less live. It also highlights the appearance of players and makes them the object of evaluation. In the case of volleyball, female athletes' uniforms are shorter than male players' uniforms. This is obviously Sexism.

3. Discussion

Korea does not recognize transgender yet. There are conflicting views on the feminists among transgender. Some people who are negative about this say transgender people who want to be men to women make women more sexually
