Sociological Methods
1. Summary
Sociologists use a variety of methods to conduct sociological research. A prime example is the scientific method. This method contributes to scientific investigation and the acquisition of new knowledge based on verifiable evidence. Besides physical science, there is also knowledge of variables and relationships in sociology. Use deductive reasoning and quantitative approaches to measure this. This method is often called positivism. On the other hand, qualitative sociologists use inductive inferences that repeatedly observe phenomena, and focus on understanding rather than developing theories. Max Weber called it "Verstehen." Scientific methods are carried out through characterization, hypothesis development, prediction, experimentation, evaluation and repetition.
2. Interesting
It was interesting to understand the same social phenomena in many ways. Qualitative and quantitative research were learned in high school, and I was also glad to meet the terms I knew. Through this article, I could learn more about specific research methods than just knowing that there is such a method of research.
3. Discussion
When you encounter a combination of quantitative and qualitative research, how should you study it?
I also wonder how qualitative and quantitative studies can be used together, whether they use their own methods or have other methods. In high school, I focused on learning the pros and cons of each method, so I think it would be good to know what methods there are.
