week 1-4: what is wikipedia? / how often do you use Wikipedia?

1. what is wikipedia?

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia of online user participation that anyone can freely write. Wikipedia was created on January 15, 2001 and is run by the nonprofit Wikimedia Foundation, whose founder is Jimmy Wales. Wikipedia is being made in more than 200 languages around the world, and it started in October 2002 in Korea.
Wikipedia is built into a system where anyone can write freely and fix according to their credentials. This caused controversy over its status as an encyclopedia, citing malicious editing, inaccurate content, quality of content, and lack of responsibility and authority. However, because it contains extensive knowledge in various fields and is constantly updated and accessible, many people are using it as a reference despite controversy.
First, it is a neutral view. Both Wikipedia's text and encyclopedias should follow a neutral perspective and be fair and unbiased by trusted sources.
Second, verifiability. Every work in Wikipedia should be published by a trusted source and be able to confirm that it is true.
Third, banning
original research. original research means facts, concepts, statements, or theories that are not published or published in Wikipedia.

2.  how often do you use Wikipedia?
I don't use Wikipedia very often. First of all, they use Naver's knowledge encyclopedia more often because they are not familiar with how to use it and mainly use Naver for search engines. But through this semester, I want to get closer to Wikipedia and increase the frequency of use.
