I think our society is still unequal, although the gender equality index is higher than in the past. I think that gender roles are still culturally stubborn and women are particularly economically unequal. According to OECD statistics on gender wage disparity, the wage gap is especially wide in Korea. There are career cuts and glass ceiling problems at the extension of this wage gap problem. In the case of women, the average wage is sharply lower for certain age groups when they are married because giving birth cannot continue their careers. This has a direct effect on the falling proportion of women as they move up to higher positions, namely the glass ceiling phenomenon. This is not just about limiting women's lives. This inequality has an adverse effect on both women and men. Men feel burdened that they are solely responsible for economic affairs because of the gender wage gap. In the end, gender equality is needed to practically break down the gender roles prevalent in our society.
