w3.Sociological Theory

1. Summary

Sociology theories are made by sociologists to explain social phenomena. This article explains the middle theory among sociological theories. The intermediate theories described are structural functionalism, concrete theory, symbolic interactionism, role theory, feminist story, integration theory. Structural functionalism is a theory that identifies society as a complex system for promoting internal solidarity and stability. This theory looks at society from a macro point of view and argues that society has evolved like an organism. Conflict theory argues that it is more appropriate for society to explain it as conflict than harmony and consensus, as opposed to structural functionalism. Symbolic interactionism is a theory that claims that because humans have autonomy, social phenomena occur as a result of daily interactions among individuals. In this theory, human beings act according to their own subject, not according to their own social rules, and the meaning of things or actions depends on the meaning given by human beings. Role theory is one that claims that an individual acts on the basis of other factors, such as social position and expectation. Feminist theory extends feminism to theoretical, fictional, or philosophical discourse. It aims to understand the nature of gender inequality. Recently, the trend has been to adopt an integrated approach. Combining micro and macroscopic theories, we adopt different approaches to sociological theory to provide a comprehensive understanding of human social behavior.

2. Interesting

I was particularly interested in role theory. The role theory argues that we act like characters in a play, and I think it makes sense to think of my everyday self. I as a friend, as a daughter, as a sister, as a student, though all are the same me, the pattern of behavior changes as if they were different people according to their social status. The same seems to be true of others. However, if the roles overlap, this theory is unlikely to be established. If I meet my parents as a part-time employee, I won't be able to give them free stuff to play my role as a daughter. This is a clear limitation.

3. Discussion

The integrated approach requires both a micro and macro perspective. Is this approach made by combining certain theories?
