W11-2.Dramaturgy

1. summary

Dramaturgy in sociology is a commonly used view of micro-social description of social interaction. Dramaturgy argues that elements of human interaction depend on time, place, and public. Dramaturgy analyzes the context of such behavior, not the cause of human behavior. From this point of view, the identity of the individual is achieved through a given role and the implications between the actor and the audience. In addition, it is said that an individual's identity is not a stable and independent psychological entity, but that the person is constantly recreated by interacting with others. Like actors who act on stage.
There are three distinct areas in the Dramaturgy perspective. In Front stage, people are expected to express themselves in certain ways. Therefore, people are shown to play a given role in society. Back stage is spoken as an expression of self in everyday life, which means that you can freely express yourself away from a given role in a social situation.
Outside means a place where an individual is not involved in the performance.

2. interesting

There were quite a few things that I could relate to while reading this article. Playing a given role in consideration of factors such as the situation and relationships with people means that people play their parents' children at home and play the role of friends, lovers, or disciples outside. Except for the distinction of seemingly obvious roles, the subject and speech of the conversation also differ depending on who I am talking to.

3. discussion

According to the article, the image in the backstage tells the actor that he can move away from the character and act freely. So is the role of Front stage far from an individual's self-identity?
