Week 10-2_[most important values in korea are 1] feeling of responsibility(like in japan), hard work(less then in china, bout much more than in japan) and thrift (korea leads the world here). why?]
In order to understand these values, we need to learn about the background and history of Korea. Korea is a country that has had Confucian ideas all along, and these customs mostly stem from Confucian ideas.
Confucian ideas are the teachings of Confucius in China, based on Yin and the Three Views of Libraries. Confucian culture was introduced during the Three Kingdoms Period and established as the ideology of running the country. The government established schools to educate students abroad, and from the time of the two Koreas, it selected those who were well versed in Confucian ethics and gave them government posts. By the time the past system was established, this was more pronounced.
Confucianism places importance on moral virtues such as humanity, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom, and God in real life. It is the basic position of Confucianism that everyone's character is good. The Mencius, in particular, made it more clear that the common tendency of human beings is towards good. He called the physical and mental aspects of humans a "small body" and "alternative" and said that humans and animals are not much different in terms of small bodies, but in general, they are unique and superior in human beings.
It seems that Korea has no choice but to value such factors because it was a country based on Confucian ideas of Confucianism.
