WEEK 10 : Social network
1. SUMMARY
Social network refers to a society consisting of a set of social structures. The social network perspective provides the social analysis method and pattern explanation theory. By using this, we can investigate network dynamics.
Social networks are also interdisciplinary. It is easy to explain the social structure determined by interaction. In addition, it is inevitably relevant. However, this theory is criticized for being ignored by individual institutions. Of course, that may not be the case in reality.
The patterns that make up the social network system are very complex. This becomes more complicated as its size increases. Personal information is likely to contain a lot of information. Therefore, there is a limit to limiting the scope of analysis.
Social networks are divided into micro, meso and macro.
The micro-level is the starting point for small groups. Within the micro-level are the diabetic level indicating the relationship between two individuals, the triadic-level adding one more person to it, the actor level centered on the smallest unit of analysis, and the sub-set level can be connected to the meso, which starts from the micro but is the middle level.
Meso level is a middle-level theory. An organization is a social group that works for collective goals. Both formal and informal relationships are included. Randomly distributed networks have the ability to express social and structural effects. A scalefree network is a network that follows the law of power even if the degree of distribution is small. What needs to be noted here are nodes and hubs.
The macro level tracks the consequences of interactions, such as economic or resource movement, for large populations. A large scale network is the same word as a macro. A complex network is a network that displays social complexity and expresses complex connection patterns, including minor features.
2. INTERESTING
It occurred to me that most information could be connected over the network. In the case of crime, weaker gangs do not kill stronger gangs, but they commit murder to maintain their reputation. As such, it was interesting that what was done just to maintain power and reputation could be described as a network concept.
3. DISCUSSION
Why is it that there are few theories completed through social network analysis? If we analyze complex social phenomena, we can come up with a lot of theories.
