WEEK 9 : Can we make the schools more useful?
I can make it. If you make a change in school, I think you can make it. If you look at Korean schools now, they aim to go to 'university' and only study it. It is because club activities that should be done for students' interests are also aimed to enter university rather than really wanting to do so. We are all aware of this problem, envious to see schools in other countries that value students' interests and find themselves through activities.
Doesn't this mean we have to change this way? Of course, just because you envy schools in other countries doesn't mean it's just useful. However, the purpose of education should not end simply by going to school well. If I say I'm interested in the media, there should be an environment in which I can delve deeply into and study the field and be educated. And this role should be played by the school. And I think we should break away from the formalized process. School says that if you want to get a job you want to do, you have to do it, you have to attend this club, and so on. Of course, that's true in part. Because that knowledge is needed. But we can be the people we want to be in other ways, even if we don't stick to that stereotyped path.
Although schools are not playing this role now, we could create more useful and helpful schools if they were to be transformed into schools that play these roles.
