Week 8-4 : Why more Koreans vote in elections than Americans?

-Presumably, because the United States is indirect election system, not direct election system, I think, the voter turnout is lower than that of Korea, which is a direct election system. The turnout of voters in USA is low because the people of the United States may think that power of their vote are small and they think that the members of the National Assembly who voted can not choose the president they want. It is also possible that the individualistic tendencies of the people in United States have affected to low turnout.

On the other hand, Korea is a country with strong communism, although individualism is emphasized these days. So, korean have a strong idea that their vote can affect the whole country. Also, Korea, which is still divided, is more sensitive to ideological issues and policies than other countries. Accordingly, the results of the election are used as a means of judging the government and the policy of the government. The people of the Republic of Korea judge the favor of disfavor of the policy through elections and express that they have the sovereignty. It was speculated that Korea's voter turnout might be higher than that of the United States due to the people's tendency and social situation.
