Make up class-3 What did I learn from this class?
After 14 weeks of classes
Throughout 14 weeks of “Invitation to
Sociology” class, I was able to grasp a bit of sociology. I think I can step on
sociology through this class. At first, I had a lot of worries because I took a
difficult sociology class in English. Sociology itself is difficult, but I
wondered if I could understand it if I learned it in English, not in Korean. But
after 14 weeks of classes, I think I got more help thanks to English instead of
Korean. As it was conducted in English, I invested more time and effort, and I
think I was able to grow as much as I invested a lot of time and effort. It is
still difficult to understand and listen to English class, but I thought I now
have some what confidence that I might be able to catch up with English major
classes if I try hard through this class.
This class also made me interested in
sociology. It can be thought that learning is very difficult, professional, and
old-fashioned. However, I think I became more interested because I was given a
lot of opportunities to think about sociology as a class to participate and
explore rather than just listening. I found out that we are more familiar with
our daily lives than we thought and that it is not just as difficult as we
think. And I think I got curious about the society we live in.
Especially, I liked it because I could
taste various colors of sociology, not only in Korea. And it was really nice to
see other friends' thoughts and opinions as well as upload my thoughts through
blog activity. I don't have many opportunities to listen to other friends'
thoughts or stories about a topic, so I think this class helped me learn more
about my friends.
Thanks to the class, I found out that
Wikipedia has so much information. It was sad that many Wikipedia articles are
written in English and Korean documents are often poor in information. Although
due to Covid19 we unwillingly had to have online classes instead of
face-to-face classes, it was good to learn a lot during the semester. I think
the class was more interesting by using various media that other classes do not
use.
Thank you so much Professor Piotr for the great
class this semester! 😊
