Make up classes: What did I learn from this class?

After I learned about Society and Culture before, I was very interested in analyzing and studying social phenomena, so I chose to take this class. I wanted to not only get a deeper knowledge of sociology from the high school level but also develop my ability to analyze the trivial and diverse social phenomena that appear around me with a critical attitude, when I finally completed this class.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, online classes were held this semester, so there were lots of limitations in learning than in face-to-face classes. Nevertheless, I put more effort than usual because I wanted to study sociology, and I didn't want to just let go of the opportunity to gain basic knowledge of sociology. Because it was an English class, the part that was difficult to understand stopped the video for a while, learned it properly, and then moved on to the next one. As a result, my interest in sociology is still maintained.
By taking an invitation to sociology this semester, I was able to learn more about social phenomena, changes, and history not only in Korea but also in the world. For example, I came to understand various definitions and origins of culture, and new forms of cultural theory also. Thus, it was an interesting learning how culture has changed by region. Above all, I was able to learn more effectively thanks to the way I took classes after reading Wikipedia articles. I could think about the topic first and expand my thinking. And by reading blog posts written by other students, thinking about questions to discuss together, and writing answers in the comments, I could take a new perspective and explore social phenomena. Also, it was meaningful to be able to accept various opinions by looking at the comments of my classmates who responded to the issues I presented through blog posts.
Performing additional blog assignments also helped me take a sociological view. There were many interesting questions that were given to me as a topic of additional blog assignments while taking the lecture. Through the process of writing essays by selecting a few of them, I was able to get a better grasp of the social situation in Korean society and it played a major role in getting closer to sociology. My most memorable additional post is an essay on an example of subcultures in Korea. It was a meaningful work to focus on cultural changes in Korea and recognize the new subculture.
