What do you think? Is internet making our lives better? It has dark sides, certainly. Can we make it better?



By using the Internet, our quality of life has become very high, and it has made our lives easier to live. We do so many things over the Internet, including talking to people far away, taking classes, learning cooking, watching sports, and so on. If the virus spreads and there is no Internet, students will not be able to learn classes, shop online, protect our safety and get information. So, does the Internet always have only advantages? I don't think so. I think there is definitely a dark side to the Internet. People slander, hurt, and hurt others through the Internet. A person who is hurt by an anonymous attacker makes an extreme choice of suicide. Also, as the Internet becomes active, personal information is not protected. In some cases, indiscriminate use of personal information and hacking can lead to personal information leakage. In addition, fake news has become widespread as Internet use has increased. Like this, I think that although the Internet has developed our lives in a positive direction, there are cases where the opposite is true. So we are careful when we use the Internet.

However, since the name of this class is ‘ Invitation to Sociology ’ and the class is run in English, I am expecting to deal issues that are not only limited nationally, but also international issues, which might be hard to cover in other classes that run in Korean. I also guess that by using English to search information, I would be able to find much more information compared to researching in Korean. They are also interested in the structure of society and have a welfare system in place From small to big, the areas that society deals with vary. A Short Summary of ‘ Introduction to Sociology/Sociological Methods’ This part of the book is about the methods employed in sociology and some standards of the methods and what it tells us. In scientific methods, there are four steps. Characterization, hypothesis, prediction and testing. For the best prediction in scientific methods, we need to know the correct relationship between correlation and causation. It is important not to mistake correlation and causation. Also, quantitative and qualitative methods are two different approaches of sociological research. Depending on how we approach, we can classify objective approach, critical approach and subjective approach. Overall, it is important to obey ethics.
