Week 12_ Social inequality
1. Summary
Social inequality occurs when the resources of a given society are typically distributed unevenly through the norms of distribution, creating specific patterns along people in socially defined categories. It is a preference for differentiation in access to social goods in societies brought about by power, religion, kinship, prestige, race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation and class. Equality of opportunity as well as equality of results is a concept of social inequality. Social inequality appears in almost every society. Social inequality is divided into three categories: equal society, Frankfurt society and stratified society. And there are five types of social inequality. There are two kinds of posts in society. The aforementioned characteristics are congenital characteristics and the achieved characteristics are those that individuals can acquire or choose from.
2. Interesting
Food desert is widely believed to be an important cause of child obesity epidemic in the United States and many other countries. This could have a significant impact not only on regional levels, but also on broader contexts such as Greece, where childhood obesity rates have soared significantly in recent years due to rampant poverty and consequent lack of access to fresh food. I felt very ironic.
3. Discussion
