Topics in Sociology_Gender
1. Summarize in my own words of materials I read.
Gender is the range of characteristics pertaining to, and differentiating between, masculinity and femininity. Depending on the context, these characteristics may include biological sex, sex-based social structures or gender identity. The social science have a branch devoted to gender studies. Other science, such as sexology and neuroscience, are also interested in the subject.
The social sciences sometimes approach gender as a social construct, and gender studies particularly do, while research in the natural sciences investigates whether biological differences in males and females influence the development of gender in humans; both inform debate about how far biological differences influence the formation of gender identity. Similar to 'sex', 'gender' is an interpretation of socially constructed patterns of human behavior. This refers to a description of a discriminatory social status based on a common understanding of the composition of masculine and female behavior. Thus, there exists a position based on the acceptance or rejection of social norms for each gender.

2. Mention of any new, interesting or unusual items learned.
It seems to be the first time I've seen accurate statistics on the difference in average wages between men and women. It is also the first time that there is a difference in the level of education and technology between two gender. It was really good to see the exact statistics according to the year. However, since all graphs are based around 2012, additional updates seem to be needed. I would also like to look at recent data and see how it changes over time.
3. Identify at least one question, concern, or discussion angle that is either problematic in some respect or could have been elaborated more.
Traditional characteristics of each gender have existed for a long time. But It doesn't going away easily. Characteristic is fluid and can change, but the characteristics that society expects remain the same. I think it remains in society as a whole, including work, occupation, education, and violence. It is showing signs of improvement, but I would like to think about ways to eradicate it completely.
