week13-2 Introduction to Sociology/Gender
From the aesthetic point of view, gender stereotypes are the paradigm of modernism, while breaking gender stereotypes is the thought of postmodernism de-centralization.Postmodernism advocates popularization, which means "everybody is beautiful", but modernism is the aesthetics of the elite and the authority, and it advocates the supremacy by a strict standard.Postmodernism in social thought also includes feminism, but this is different from aesthetic postmodernism.
From a socio-performance perspective, gender stereotypes are social performances and social norms. The criterion for judging whether a performance is right or wrong is whether the purpose is good or bad, and whether the effect is good or bad. This year, I took the test for the standard of judging performance right and wrong, and my answer mentions some of the things that are currently difficult to judge, including the performance of gender stereotypes. For individuals, pandering to mainstream social norms, such as the masculine performance of feminine men, makes it easier for the individual to survive and avoid discrimination, which is a good performance for the individual to survive, but with the rise of feminism and the call to eliminate gender stereotypes, this kind of performance is not good from a affirmative perspective. After all, such a performance is due to the existence of unreasonable social norms and should be rationalized.
