EXTRA) What is more important: the actions of individuals or the environment that influences them?

What is more important: the actions of individuals or the environment that influences them? First of all, both factors are important because they affect each other. But I think the more important of the two is the environment that affects individuals. No matter how moral an individual may be, he can grow up immoral if the environment is poor. Also, no matter how free an individual is, if the environment oppresses and restricts the individual, the individual cannot act at his or her own will.

W11-1. Symbolic interactionism

1. Summary     Symbolic interactionism is a theory that studies how individuals interact to create a symbolic world, and in return how these worlds shape individual behavior. The symbolic interaction consists of three processes. 1) Individuals construct meaning via the communication process. 2) Self-concept is a motivation for behavior. 3)A unique relationship exists between the individual and society. There is another premise derived from the following assumptions. 1) "Humans act toward things on the basis of the meanings they ascribe to those things." 2) "The meaning of such things is derived from, or arises out of, the social interaction that one has with others and the society." 3) "The Meanings are handled in, and modified through, an interpretative process used by the person in dealing with the things he/she encounters." Symbolic interactionists are often criticized for their method of research being somewhat disorganized. It is argued that

WEEK 11_2. Dramaturgy (sociology)

1. Summary Dramaturgy is a sociological perspective commonly used in microsociological accounts of social interaction in everyday life. In dramaturgical sociology it is argued that the elements of human interactions are dependent upon time, place, and audience. In other words, to Goffman, the self is a sense of who one is, a dramatic effect emerging from the immediate scene being presented. Dramaturgical perspective is one of several sociological paradigms separated from other sociological theories because it does not examine the cause of human behavior but it analyzes the context. In a dramaturgical model, social interaction is analyzed in terms of how people live their lives like actors performing on a stage. 2. Interesting It is interesting that many performances create special roles to keep the audience from getting information. 3. Discussion What kind of person do you want to be expressed as?

Week 11-2_[how do those people feel? why do they act the way they do? what can we learn from answering those questions?]

I think people's feelings will be different for each individual. This is because each person has a different situation and different environment and thoughts. They also think they did their own thing because they were in their own situation. A man without a house in Paris may have his own story and reason. So there is no guarantee that he will live outside, and that his mood will always be bad. Because we haven't lived his life for him. Sometimes good things can happen, or unlike our general idea, you may have chosen the life you want. Through this question, one can see that one's life cannot be all the same, and that each individual behaves with different thoughts.

Week 11-2_[what is more important: the actions of individuals or the environment that influences them?]

I think individuals are more important than the environment. Of course, the environment will also have a great impact on individuals, but I think individual power is more powerful. For example, if we look at the process of democratization in Korea, the environment was really at its worst due to the dictatorship and oppression of the nation, but the individual people thought and joined forces to change the country and the background. As I tend to think that there is nothing I can't do if my personal efforts are combined, I think that individual actions are more important.

WEEK 11 : Dramaturgy (sociology)

1. SUMMARY Dramaturgy is a term used in social interaction from a micro-view. In Dramaturgy, the elements of interaction depend on time, place, and hearing. The purpose of self-expression is to accommodate the audience. A dramatic view analyzes the context. However, there is a controversy that it can be perceived as a paradigm framework, not a theory. Dramas emphasize expressive power as a major component of interaction. It also manages the environment, clothing, word selection and behavior. With respect to performance, there are seven important elements that Goffman identifies. Belief, mask, realization, idealization, maintenance of expression control, truth, mystification. Drama interaction mainly cooperates as a team for the party line. There are three steps. There are front stage, back stage, and exterior. The front stage is divided into appearance and manners. Appearance reflects social status and manners are the way actors behave. Backstage is a place where you can relax

Week 11-2_[Dramaturgy (sociology)]

1. summary This article is about dramatic phenomenon. Missy sociological description of the social interaction in our daily lives is a dramatic phenomenon typically used for the sociological viewpoint. The term was adopted through the ‘goffman’. Dramatic elements of the human interaction time in sociology, places, and that relying on audience. In other words, and the a sense of who is himself, to immediately released, appeared at the scene of a dramatic effect. This article is thinking ahead about the dramatic point of view, the steps and introduce differentiated in the role. Give it a point to the steps of them. Stage or the different individuals with different roles and information to the station can be found three distinct area. There are three phases : (out front, rear,) ; the front stage is like a dress in front of an audience expression as other acts. Free in the area of the individual, such as justice of the expression of self in everyday life is behind the scenes for ind

Week 11-1_[Symbolic interactionism]

1. Summary This article describes the symbolic interaction. Symbolic interaction is a sociological theory that develops from practical considerations and implies people's use of certain dialects, creating images and creating general meanings for inference and communication with others. In other words, it is a framework of reference to better understand how individuals interact with each other to create a symbolic world, and in return how these worlds shape individual behavior. Looking at the table of contents, the history, assumption of symbolic interaction. It proceeds in the order of premise and research methodology, central thought, and criticism. The history of symbolic interaction theory begins with George Herbert Mead. Mead argued that people's egos are social products, but these themselves are also purpose-conscious and creative, and believed that any real test of any theory is "useful for solving complex social problems." According to the Handbook of Sym

WEEK 11 : Symbolic interactionism

1. SUMMARY The symbolic interaction was designed by George Herbert Mead. The mind means the ability of an individual to use symbols to attach meaning. Self represents an individual's ability to reflect the way an individual is perceived by others. Society is the place where interaction takes place. Herbert Blumer, Mead's student, coined the term symbolic interaction. Symbolic interactions consist of communication, self-concept, and relationships between individuals and society. Symbolic interaction has five central ideas. Man must be understood as a social and thinking being. Human must define their situation. The cause of human behavior is the result of what has happened in the present situation. Humans are described as active beings in relation to the environment. Snow uses human agencies, interactive determination, symbolization and emergence. New media is used to define everything related to interaction. The theory of symbolic interactionists is pointed out to be

EXTRA) What is more important: the actions of individuals or the environment that influences them?

I think the environment is important. Because, like crowd psychology, a person tends to fit himself to the average result when compared with others. No matter how powerful an individual's opinion is, I think it's better to have a good environment and let people follow suit, because if everyone else has objections, individual opinions can be killed. One thing that can explain this very well is the educational environment of Korea. Parents move from home to middle and high schools in good school districts or even make false registrations to send their children. It is to have children in a well-studied environment and a school environment with a lot of experience in good universities.

week 11-4 what is more important : the actions of individuals or the environment that influences them?

I think the environmental impact is more important. For example, in the third year of high school, if everyone in the classroom is immersed in learning and the learning atmosphere is strong, then they will also be unconsciously affected and study hard.If the classroom you are in is noisy, some are making fun, some are chatting, and some are sleeping, seeing such scenes will also be infected and joined. The story of the ancient "Three Moves of Meng Mother" reflects the impact of a really good educational environment on children. "Near Zhu Zhe Chi, Mo Zhe Black" reflects the impact of the closest people (friends) on the people around them. This case shows that the importance of the environment on people.

week 11-3 How do we shape our behavior because of others?

In my opinion, the behavior of shaping oneself by others has two sides, positive behavior shaping and bad behavior shaping. In the expectation of parents, I hope that their children are clever and sensible, and have excellent academic performance. So the children will study as hard as their parents expect, take classes seriously, go home and sit down and finish their homework seriously. For another example, some people may sometimes act contrary to their wishes in order to cater to others. For example, in the case of campus violence, some people choose to ignore it, and some people join in order not to be subjected to campus violence. It's like the friends around you are saying bad things about that person. When you ask your thoughts, you agree with others in order to cater to others and say bad things about that person together.

W11. Dramaturgy

Summary  Dramaturgy is a theory that socially describes the social interaction used in everyday life. This theory was discovered by Erving Goffman, whose theory influenced Burke of later generations. Goffman explains, in dramaturgy, human interaction is influenced by time, place, and audience, all the people around him who refer to the object of interaction. And he is assumed to be an actor in the play. He concentrates on the role given to him to make the play successful, and when he perfectly performs his role, he can improve his self-image. This is called self-expression. However, theatrical theory is criticized. dramaturgy is a theory that analyzes social interaction, but it does not analyze the causes of human behavior but investigates social context. Also, with social consensus for the play in advance, does it really mean interaction? in the sense that To overcome this, theatrical theory suggests that 'impression management'. Impression management refers to considering c

W11-2: Dramaturgy

1. Summary Dramaturgy is a theory that socially describes social interactions used in everyday life. The elements of human interaction here claim to depend on time, place, and audience. And he is assumed to be an actor in the play. He concentrates on the roles given to him to make the play a success, and perfecting his role can improve his image. This is called self-expression. You should keep the audience from getting secrets in many performances. Secrets are dark secrets, strategic secrets, internal secrets, delegated secrets, free secrets. Mystery refers to the concealment of any information in the audience, whether to increase the audience's interest in the users, to prevent the performers from divulging information that could harm the performers.A role has a role to deal with team boundaries, a role to promote interaction between two different teams, and a role to mix the front and the back. Performers can communicate informally even in non-performance areas. However, exposur

W11-1 Symbolic interactionism

1. Summary The theory of symbolic interaction means how a person or thing interacts to create a world in which an individual thinks, or through that interaction, a world in which an individual thinks.Since individuals act on the premise of a common understanding of meaning within the social context, interactions and actions are organized through the common meaning that objects and concepts are attached to them. And there are three premises to social interaction. First, humans act according to the meaning of things. Second, the meaning of such things stems from or arises from social interaction with others and society. Third, deal with and modify the meaning in the interpretation process used to deal with what he meets. But symbolic interactions are often criticized. The reason is that the theory is not specific, and the subject of the theory is too broad. 2. Interesting When I first named things, I was very curious about how to name them. There are still new words coming up, and

week 11-2 dramaturgy

Summary dramarturgy are the sociological views commonly used in micro-social explanations of social interactions in everyday life. In dramatic sociology, it is argued that the elements of human interaction depend on time, place, and hearing. The dramatic view is one of several sociological paradigms separated from other sociological theories because it analyzes context rather than investigating the causes of human behavior. But this is socially controversial. In a dramatic model, social interactions are analyzed from the perspective of how people live their lives, just like actors who act on stage. This theory divides society into three stages. On the front stage, individuals perform actions consciously or unconsciously that fit their roles. On the backstage, we know that people are free to perform unacceptable actions on the front stage. That is, backstage is where people relax and act.  Outside or offstage is a place where an individual is not involved in the performance. These soc

Week 11-2. Dramaturgy

1. Summary Dramaturgy is a sociological perspective commonly used in micro-social explanations of social interactions in everyday life. The term was first adopted as sociology in theaters in 1956 by Erving Goffman, who developed most of the relevant terms and ideas in his book, 'Expression of His Life.' In drama sociology, it is argued that the elements of human interaction depend on time, place, and audience. In other words, for Goffman, ego is a sense of who he is, a dramatic effect from an instant scene. The dramatic view is one of several sociological paradigms separated from other sociological theories because it analyzes context rather than investigating the cause of human behavior. In the dramatic model, social interactions are analyzed in the way people live their lives like actors who act on stage. This analysis looks at the concept of status and role. 2. Interesting With regard to performance, the seven important factors that Goffman identified were intere

Week 11-1. Symbolic interactionism

1. Summary Symbolic interaction is a sociological theory that implies people's use of certain dialects to develop from practical considerations and produce images and normal meanings for connection and communication with others. The analytical process that occurs between interactions helps to generate and regenerate meaning. Influencing the interaction between individuals is a common understanding and interpretation of meaning. Individuals act on the premise of a common understanding of meaning within the social context. Thus, interaction and behavior are organized through the common meaning that objects and concepts are attached to them. The symbolic interaction was designed by George Herbert Mead and Charles Horton Cooley. Most of the symbolic interaction theorists believe that physical reality actually exists by individual social justice and that social justice develops in relation to "real" something. Therefore, people do not respond directly to reality, but to soc

Dramaturgy 1. Summarize  Drama sociology argues that human interaction depends on time, place, and audience. It mainly means the dramatic effect from the immediate scene. Dramatic oligopoly is one of several social and academic paradigms. The role in the play is organized through an agreement between the actor and the audience, and social interaction in dramatic situations refers to living one's own life like a role played on stage. Managing the environment, clothing, and horses suitable for the role in real life is called 'exposure management'. Exposure management is said to consist of defense and protection techniques, and defense techniques are used before interaction is initiated and involved. Protection techniques are also used to minimize risk, especially by anticipating problems that may occur. The first drama production began to express the way social movements convey power. However, what needs to be dealt with in the play continues to appear on the backstage. Th

week 11-1 Symbolic interactionism

Summary Symbolic interaction is a sociological theory that develops from practical considerations and implies people's use of certain dialects, creating images and creating general meanings for inference and communication with others. The symbolic interaction originates from the sociological perspective developed in the mid-20th century, and the symbolic interaction affects social psychology and microsocialism. The symbolic interaction was designed by George Herbert Mead and Charles Horton Coolie. And Herbert Blummer coined the term and came up with an influential summary. Most symbolic interaction scholars believe that physical reality actually exists by individual social justice, and that social justice is partly or partly related to" real". This is called an assumption. If some of the basic assumptions about symbolic interaction have been defined, it is necessary to address the premise supported by each assumption. 1) Humans act according to the meaning of things 2) Th

Week 11-2. Dramaturgy (sociology)

1. Summary Dramaturgy is one of the sociological theories that explain social interaction. Human interaction is influenced by time, place, and audience. In this respect, Individuals has the same position as actor. Human identity is what is completed between a given role and an audience. Individuals, in the same position as actors on stage, continue to interact with others, thereby repeating their ongoing role. In a dramatic model, people in society live their lives like actors. Each man has a suitable role at the interaction of others.  For example, acting the role of parent to a child in home, and acting the rolo of clerk to a customer in a store, and acting the role of a guide to a stranger on the street will all be different.  According to Goffman, the theory has a concept of backstage. Backstage is a space where actors relax and stop performing their roles. Individual can stop acting all the rols on the back stage. There is also an outside concept, which means a place

W11-2: Dramaturgy

1.      Summary   Dramaturgy is a concept used in micro sociology, developed by Erving Goffman. Dramatic sociology describes social interaction with elements of play. Goffman described the process of human beings expressing their identity, cultural values, norms and beliefs to others by metaphor of the play. The stage he talks about refers to areas where individuals can be distinguished based on different roles or information, and is divided into three categories: Front stage, Back stage and Outside. Front stage is the place where an actor gives smoke to people, a place of expression that an individual intentionally or unconsciously performs. Here it contains the difference between individual settings and personal aspects. In the Back stage, it is a space where an actor can relax and escape from acting and setting. Likewise, people can do things they didn't want to show in Front stage and have secrets. Outside, it is a space where individuals are separated from each other. When

W11-1 Symbolic interactionism

1.      Summary Symbolic interactionism notes that individuals use symbols to interact with others to form a society. What affects people's interaction is the meaning and understanding of the situation they share. Symbolic interactionism was first studied by George Herbert Mead and Charles Horton Cooley. Herbert Blumer, Mead's student, also used the term for the first time and added a meaningful summary. Not only these but also many sociological theorists have explained the concept of Symbolic interactionism and provided various perspectives. Many symbolic interactionists react to reality based on social understanding because they are social realists. Their research has three themes in common. First, man acts according to the meaning of things. Second, the meaning of such things stems from or arises from the social interaction one person has with others. Third, meaning is processed and modified through the analytical process used to deal with what the other party encounters.

Week 11-1. Symbolic interactionism

1. Summary Symbolic interaction is the theory about interaction in which people in society use certain symbols to convey meanings and images. In other words, people use symbols to interact. Designed by Mead and Cooley, this theory holds an important point in sociology. The theory also helped solve complex social problems and interpret society.  The symbolic interaction presupposes three assumptions: First, individuals in society form meanings through the process of communication. Second, Self-concept provides an incentive to act. Third, there is a special relationship between individuals and society. Human behavior is motivated by meaning. In other words, according to the individual's personal meaning, the individual performs certain actions. This can be applied to any individual's behavior, including speaking. Also, the interaction between individuals in society is caused by meaning. That is, when an interaction between individuals occurs, they understand the meani
